Usually, at the end of the day, I sit and think about what happened as I plan what’s going to be done tomorrow.
When I started thinking about what happened yesterday, I really had a difficult time focusing on the “successes” of the day.
I learned some time ago that our minds are built to protect us. In “survival” mode, the mind automatically focuses on those experiences that would harm us.
Isn’t that interesting?
So in other words, we consciously must control our minds and our thoughts to move us out of “survival” mode (where we focus on our fears and threats) and into “thrive” mode (where we focus on our joys and accomplishments).
One way to do that is to live in Gratitude.
“What does that mean?” You say…
Exactly what it says. Each day, I choose to live in appreciation of others. Appreciate what they say or do. Appreciate that they are experiencing challenges and changes too. And, express appreciation of them and their contribution to life.
Life is a shared experience. Who wants to go around fearing everyone around them? Wouldn’t it be better to share appreciation instead?
