If you’ve ever heard the poem “Thinking” by Walter D. Wintle, you may recognize part of my title. It comes from the poem shown here.
If you think you are beaten, you are
If you think you dare not, you don’t,
If you like to win, but you think you can’t
It is almost certain you won’t.If you think you’ll lose, you’re lost
For out of the world we find,
Success begins with a fellow’s will
It’s all in the state of mind.If you think you are outclassed, you are
You’ve got to think high to rise,
You’ve got to be sure of yourself before
You can ever win a prize.Life’s battles don’t always go
To the stronger or faster man,
But soon or late the man who wins
Is the man WHO THINKS HE CAN!
Over the last year and a half (or so), I’ve gotten over 40 pounds lighter through changing my eating habits. (Can you believe it? Who knew that eating right and exercise actually works?)
When I was talking to a relative about it recently, I was called “lucky” because I was able to accomplish this dramatic change. (Please note it was not overnight and it was not easy.)
Had I not set out to do something, I would not have been able to accomplish anything.
If you have dreams that you’ve never done anything about, write them down. It’ll be one small, easy step that can get the ball rolling.
The hardest step to take is the first one. It gets easier after that.
